Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Public Relations Manager to join our team in Austin. In this role, you'll manage media relations, content creation, and community engagement efforts, helping to shape the public perception of our organization. You'll work closely with the communications team to develop and execute strategies that align with our core values while ensuring a consistent, positive brand image. What You'll Do:
Handle ongoing media and PR inquiries, maintaining strong relationships with local media outlets.
Create and distribute content, including press releases, articles, talking points, and other written materials, that align with current market trends and organizational goals.
Monitor media coverage and proactively inform leadership of relevant updates, issues, or opportunities.
Manage the creation of internal and external communications, such as job descriptions, social media posts, newsletters, and speeches.
Lead and oversee the PR Intern program, ensuring a supportive and educational experience.
Analyze data from various sources, such as the Scam Tracker and consumer reviews, to identify newsworthy content.
Collaborate with the creative team to develop media kits and other materials for external communications.
Maintain editorial calendars, track departmental goals, and help ensure deadlines are met across projects.
Represent the organization at community events and other public-facing opportunities.
Contribute to internal communications, such as newsletters, and assist in meeting organizational communication goals.
What We're Looking For:
A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
High attention to detail, with a keen eye for spelling, grammar, and consistency.
Proficiency in AP style and media monitoring systems (such as Cision, TVEyes).
Experience with data analysis tools and content creation software, including PowerBI and Adobe Suite products.
A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
At least two years of experience in external communications, preferably in a fast-paced office setting.
Prior experience creating and distributing news releases, with a background in a newsroom environment being a plus.
