Our client, a leading sports technology company, is seeking an AdTech Privacy & Data Protection Specialist to join their dynamic Privacy team. This role will involve supporting key global privacy initiatives, focusing on North American and European regional requirements within the AdTech ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of privacy laws and be able to articulate compliance implications to relevant teams. Responsibilities include driving control implementation, conducting privacy risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to legal standards. The successful candidate will have experience in privacy, regulatory, or risk and compliance roles, along with a strong understanding of key privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. This hybrid role requires a presence in the New York office twice a week. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Serving as advisor on privacy inquiries linked to AdTech and related compliance matters
- Delving into advertising systems to gain technical insights, chart data pathways, spot privacy controls, and share compliance impact details with applicable teams
- Assisting in privacy and compliance projects, such as drafting key policies and advancing the adoption of new frameworks, requirements, and policies
- Spotting risks and coordinating with other teams to implement control measures
- Assessing existing issues by examining processes end-to-end to find root causes
- Using a strong understanding of global privacy standards to explain compliance needs and ensure alignment within Tech, Media, and Product groups
- Keeping abreast of evolving global privacy legislation, consumer expectations, and regulatory advice to spot trends and communicate major legal requirements
- Developing and upholding privacy guidelines that meet both federal and state laws, and integrating them into organizational advertising routines
- Performing initial and ongoing risk checks for advertising activities to detect potential privacy vulnerabilities and form mitigation plans
- Crafting training programs to build employee knowledge on privacy laws and policies impacting advertising
- Watching compliance with privacy practices, carrying out necessary audits to uphold legal standards
- Collaborating with legal, IT, media, and marketing departments to align privacy efforts with business and tech goals
- Keeping detailed records of privacy procedures, risk checks, and compliance tasks, and preparing necessary reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Background in privacy, regulatory affairs, or compliance and risk roles
- Expert grasp of major global privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, COPPA, CCPA, ePrivacy) along with AdTech-specific frameworks (e.g., IAB TCF)
- Experience working with privacy or security compliance in tech-driven environments
- Proven track record with privacy process enhancements within tech processes or leading tech firms
- Holding CIPP certifications or open to obtaining them
- Skilled at managing stakeholder relationships and communicating effectively to achieve goals
- Operational experience with privacy requirements across the US, Canada, and EU, including US-specific state laws
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Knowledgeable in privacy risk management practices and AdTech industry standards
- Able to navigate complex business systems and technologies
- Analytical with solid decision-making skills, capable of solving problems and resolving complex issues to completion
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse business units in large organizations to drive positive transformation
- Experienced in assessing privacy control design and effectiveness
- Familiar with collaborating directly with auditors for compliance reviews
Expected salary for this role is $100,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
