The Role

The Lead IT Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of systems engineering and integration including requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation, and validation of an enterprise network. This position is the lead optical transport systems engineer focused in a laboratory test environment supporting a large enterprise network.  Active Top Secret Clearance Required.

The Main Responsibilities

• Lead technical projects through its entirety: research, conceptualization, feasibility assessment, design, procurement, lab test and evaluation, implementation planning, training, documentation,and transitioning to the operational environment.
• Create technical documents including test plans, test reports, implementation plans, and white papers.
• Optical transport network equipment installation and administration.
• Optical transport infrastructure analysis, performance monitoring, and optimization.
• Provide advanced Tier III support for two geographically separated network operations centers.
• Ensure systems are within Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security best practices.
• Configure and administer enterprise management systems of various vendors.
• Coordinate with other teams to manage the installation of new equipment and/or solutions.
• Review and update Engineering Design Plans for accuracy.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Qualifications & Critical Skills

• Expertise with Optical Transport Networking, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, and optical communication theory including optical amplification.
• Experience with various Layer 1 protocols and Layer 2 Ethernet.
• Experience with various optical transport equipment families from Adtran, Ciena, Infinera, and Nokia.
• Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools and processes.
• Ability to provide the proactive status of assigned work and ability to estimate the level of effort for future work.
• Strong Critical thinking and ability to work in collaborative environment with multiple disciplines. 

Technical Certifications

• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
• OC-A required, OC-P desired.

Education or Equivalent Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field and at least 4 years of experience in enterprise network design.
• 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Other Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Frequent travel required.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges
$108,896.00 - $145,195.00 in these states: CO.
$114,082.00 - $152,109.00 in these states: TX and VA.
