Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to help manage our clients' financial records. In this role, you will be responsible for keeping track of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. We need someone who is proactive, meticulous, and able to handle sensitive financial data with integrity. The ideal candidate will work closely with the management team to offer financial insights and ensure the overall financial health of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Categorize daily transactions in clients' financial records and generate monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) using QuickBooks Online and possibly other tools as needed.
- Maintain and update ledgers, balance sheets, income statements, and trial balances.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and invoices.
- Manage payroll tasks, including calculating employee wages, processing deductions, and filing payroll taxes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts regularly.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Stay up-to-date with new federal, state, and local legislation to ensure compliance and advise management on necessary actions.
- Assist in audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Ensure all tax obligations are met by maintaining a solid understanding of applicable tax laws.
- Monitor cash flow and provide financial health updates to senior management.
- Record financial transactions and prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Collaborate with tax preparers, accountants, and financial advisors for more complex financial needs and year-end obligations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial practices.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other similar systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with management and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of tax laws and compliance regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, QuickBooks Certification) is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Primarily remote, with some in-office time required from January to April.
- Occasional client meetings or visits may be requested.
