Applewood Centers, a leading non-profit agency providing mental health, social services, and education to children, adolescents, and families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties, is seeking a dedicated Youth Detention Center Therapist to join our team. We offer a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment and are committed to addressing the behavioral, emotional, and learning needs of the children we serve.

Impact Young Lives in the Juvenile Justice System

Did you know that nearly 70% of youth involved in the Juvenile Justice System experience psychological distress? As a Youth Detention Center Therapist at Lorain County Detention Center campus, you'll play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and treating these young men and women. You will provide clinical assessments and diagnoses, conduct individual and family counseling, and facilitate therapeutic groups. Working collaboratively with Lorain court staff, This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable youth.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide counseling and case management services individual, and group counseling services.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups for clients.
• Collaborate with court personnel
• Develop and implement aftercare plans and referrals when appropriate .
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Ohio Social Work or Counseling License, or Marriage Family Therapy License 
• Experience or certification in chemical dependency preferred.
• 2+ years of experience providing mental health services to children with complex needs.
• Proven experience in clinical evaluation/assessment and crisis intervention.
