Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist Surveyor to join our team in evaluating laboratory programs across the United States. In this role, you will use your analytical skills and medical knowledge to assess laboratories' compliance with healthcare standards, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for enhancing operations. You will be responsible for preparing comprehensive reports that highlight compliance gaps, identify system vulnerabilities, and offer actionable insights to improve healthcare practices. This role requires effective communication with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough evaluations of laboratory programs to assess their compliance with established healthcare standards.
Use systems analysis and inductive reasoning to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risks within healthcare facilities.
Prepare clear and detailed management reports that connect compliance deficiencies with potential system vulnerabilities.
Communicate findings in a constructive and collegial manner to encourage positive changes within healthcare organizations.
Participate in additional activities as assigned by your supervisor, contributing to the ongoing success of the team.
Key Qualifications:
Medical Technologist with a Master's degree in a health-related field.
Must be registered with a nationally accredited organization.
At least 5 years of recent experience, with 3 years in direct clinical experience in healthcare settings and 2 years in senior management or leadership roles related to accreditation or certification.
Experience working in three or more technical areas of healthcare.
In-depth knowledge of compliance and regulatory accreditation processes.
Strong customer service skills and experience working in large healthcare or point-of-care settings.
Leadership or participation in regulatory and safety committees is essential.
Teaching or sales experience in healthcare is a plus.
Bilingual in Spanish (reading, writing, medical terminology) is a requirement.
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience working within an accredited healthcare organization.
Direct involvement in healthcare accreditation surveys, including familiarity with Joint Commission standards.
Participation in at least two Joint Commission surveys is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to observe and assess healthcare treatments in real-time, without interrupting ongoing procedures, including in emergency situations and extreme conditions.
Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and perform tasks that require physical effort, such as climbing stairs, lifting, and maneuvering equipment.
Ability to inspect facilities, equipment, and procedures thoroughly, including areas where cleanliness and safety are critical.
Must be able to travel extensively, including driving to remote locations, flying to small airports, and adapting to various weather conditions.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively to healthcare facilities across the country, using various modes of transportation, including cars, small planes, and public transport.
