**Senior Investment and Financial Reporting Accountant**
**Location:** Orlando, FL (Remote options available for East Coast residents)
**Salary:** $125,000 - $150,000 per year
Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Investment and Financial Reporting Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our Finance Department with a variety of essential functions, including consolidation, reporting, investment analysis, financial planning, and treasury activities. Your expertise will help us maintain accurate financial statements and contribute to our investment strategy.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare consolidated group financial statements and accompanying notes in accordance with US GAAP.
- Develop and review accounting memos and journal entries to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
- Conduct reconciliations of underwriting accounts from the general ledger to source documents.
- Review investment reconciliations to ensure alignment between the general ledger and Clearwater reports.
- Provide insightful analysis and communicate accounting results effectively to management.
- Ensure compliance with established accounting and reporting processes, policies, and controls.
- Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, addressing requests for GAAP and statutory reporting.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency in financial statement support and footnote detailing.
- Lead or support investment accounting projects that align with our strategic goals.
- Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to policies and workflows.
- Stay informed about relevant accounting rules, regulatory standards, and internal controls to ensure compliance.
- Support the development of investment strategies and provide recommendations that align with company guidelines.
- Assist in providing investment data to managers and potential managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines.
- Evaluate and rationalize investment managers, custodians, and associated fees.
- Prepare appraisals, schedules, reports, and other materials for internal or external use.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Underwriting, Finance, Capital, and Legal, to ensure seamless operations.
- Attend audit and risk committee meetings to provide financial insights.
- Oversee local liquidity management and coordinate capital movement within the organization.
- Manage internal loan documentation and liaise with the group controller regarding banking covenants.
- Collaborate with banking partners on liquidity products and solutions.
- Assist with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions as needed.
**Skills & Qualifications:**
- Strong understanding of investment products and accounting treatment for various asset classes, including fixed maturity, equity, cash equivalents, and alternative investments.
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in the preparation of financial statements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis functions.
- Familiarity with capital, debt, and currency markets.
- Understanding of investment KPIs and ratios.
**Education & Experience:**
- CPA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent certification is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in property and casualty (P&C) insurance.
- At least 5 years of experience in financial reporting under US GAAP; a background with a Big 4 firm is preferred.
