Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, Water Resources of the Re-evaluation Engineering Branch, the Senior Engineer serves in a lead capacity in highly technical and complex job assignments related to the re-evaluation and repair of dams and appurtenant structures with regard to public safety.  The incumbent will have a specific focus related to the Re-evaluation Programs and the Inundation Map/Emergency Action Planning Program.

Special Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid California Driver’s License.

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required.

This position requires the incumbent to be experienced in dam engineering and to function as a non-supervising, senior engineer specialist to work cooperatively with others, have good communication abilities, advanced technical knowledge and skills, analyze situations accurately, maintain consistent predictable attendance, and adhere to the Division's policies and procedures.  The incumbent must interact well with Division staff, dam owners, consulting engineers, and the public.  Assignments require site visits, sometimes to remote areas, which may require driving a personal or state vehicle on public roadways or on uneven terrain.
