The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for reporting, control and analysis of operations in the areas of inventory, costing/reporting, purchasing, and maintaining applicable ERP cost system modules. Positional goals include maintaining standard cost and physical inventory accuracy while working in closely with manufacturing and plant operation teams, and insuring that all related financial bookings follow GAAP.

Responsibilities:

• Leads financial operations in inventory management by developing and improving control policies, procedures, methods and systems.
• Leads annual physical inventory counts along with reviewing daily cycle count data, performing root cause analysis of discrepancies.
• Performs labor rates, overhead rates, and annual standard cost rollup.
• Assists in setup and maintenance of ABC stratification codes
• Develops root cause analyses and corrective actions to improve business processes by comparing actual cost incurred to estimates.
• Develops an understanding of the product lines by working with Purchasing, Operations and Sales & Marketing.
• Works closely with ops team to ensure proper time keeping actions and material transactions are performed daily.
• Develops and maintains a weekly reporting framework consisting of inventory trends, absorption analysis, utilization, efficiency & productivity metrics.
• Prepare month end close Cost Accounting entries and prepare relevant monthly variance analysis reports (MFG, Material, PPV, Warranties, Obsolescence, etc).
• Maintenance and analysis of product line gross margins.
• Reconciles inventory and capital accounts monthly.
• Review bills of materials and labor routings to assure costing accuracy.
• Assists Controller in monthly forecasting & yearly budgeting process.
• Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.
• Monthly end, quarterly and yearly accounting close.
• Tracks all capital expenses related to fixed assets associated with capital projects.
• Reviews and tracks operating and financial leases related to ASC 842 and prepares monthly entries

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• CPA preferred.
• Understanding of bill of materials and manufacturing routers.
• WIP to inventory reconciliation and standard inventory costing.
• Understanding process improvement manufacturing concepts.
• Lean Six sigma belts a plus.
• Excel-Pivot tables, V-lookups, Macros, etc.
• Understanding of ERP systems.
• EPICOR knowledge a Plus

This is a HYBRID Position that will require the resource to be in office near Hobby Airport
