Job Description

MEI is tasked daily with moving heavy, expensive, and many times highly sensitive, equipment in construction and operating facility environments for customers both large and small. This type of industrial liability necessitates a dedication to safety, professionalism, and expertise at every level and at all times. The Rigging Apprenticeship Program has been developed by industry experts and is designed to teach the core rigging skills necessary for individuals without any knowledge of the machinery moving industry or rigging skills to start a fulfilling career as a skilled Rigger with opportunities to advance and grow in the industry through targeted skills development and training oversight. Courses include hands-on training, activities, and assessments, which may be conducted in lab or field environments.

Upon completing this 12-month program, participants will have gained the proficiency in the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary to perform at the Rigger 1 level.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • You must be committed to learning and be willing to complete all assignments, tasks, and assessments required of you by the program. This includes any pre-work and homework assignments before or after related studies training seminars.
  • You must be fluent in English (both written and spoken). At this time all training materials, assignments, and assessments will be provided in English only.
  • You will need to be present, in in-person, (air travel, if applicable) for six, bi-monthly, 3-day seminars taking place in July ’24, September ’24, November ’24, and January ‘25.
  • Is willing and able to travel to training, if applicable.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds. Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment year-round.

All candidates must complete pre-employment contingencies upon accepting an offer with MEI that includes a 5-panel drug test and a Criminal Background Check.
