Job Overview:

The Revenue Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of revenue recognition and accounts receivable, including monthly and year end close. This includes ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing financial insights to executive leadership. The Revenue Manager will be responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable process, leading the accounts receivable team, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, and effective collection processes. As our company continues to grow, we'll expect the Revenue Manager to have an eye on process improvement and optimization. This person will also be expected to be a thought partner across Finance leadership, partnering closely with the Controller and the CFO to support business performance and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the monthly and year end accounting close for revenue recognition and accounts receivable.
  • Develop and apply revenue recognition policies in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606.
  • Manage and develop the staff to improve skills and performance and set goals, in conjunction with the Company's talent development process.
  • Ensure the accuracy, validity and completeness of journal entries, account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive and clear explanations of revenue trends, deviations, and variances for management reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance revenue recognition and accounts receivable processes to streamline efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise the timely and accurate generation of invoices and billing statements.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely application of payments to customer accounts.
  • Working closely with the sales team to establish and monitor customer credit limits, outstanding receivables, and payment terms.
  • Contribute to the preparation of external financial statements and disclosures.
  • Play a leadership role in the preparation and management of the annual audit.
  • Assist with new acquisitions; integrate revenue and accounts receivable policies into the Company's processes.
  • Perform other duties to support the Accounting and Finance department and business as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and mentoring of 3 direct reports with a team of approximately 10, inclusive of the Revenue Application team, and Accounts Receivable team.

Competencies Required:

  • 8+ years of experience showing progressive responsibility in revenue recognition, accounting, or finance roles
  • Proven experience in accounts receivable management role
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with a top 50 accounting firm.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving mindset. Bias to challenge the status quo and find better approaches.
  • Experience evaluating, building, and managing a high performing team.
  • Experience working with external auditors.
  • A business partner/customer service mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willing and able to communicate proactively and directly with business leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Ability to accurately evaluate and set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt, recalibrate and adjust to changing business conditions and /or business priorities. Must be able to manage numerous work items at one time with a high sense of urgency.
  • Excellent organizational skills and with a high attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills with high level of ability to evaluate large data set.
  • Active CPA required, MBA a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.

Performance Expectations:

  • Deliver accurate accounting and financial reporting for Certus business, with effective underlying internal controls.
  • Effectively lead and manage the Revenue and Accounts Receivable team to achieve accurate, timely and complete financial reporting, with efficient collections of receivables.
  • Be a thought leader in continuously challenging the status quo to improve processes and efficiency.
