Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Boston College is seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our University Health Services team. This role is instrumental in supporting the mental health and well-being of our diverse student population, including undergraduates, graduate students, and student-athletes. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality psychiatric care, consultation, and health education, fostering academic and personal success in alignment with the University's mission of holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
  • Provide ongoing mental health care, including crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and referrals to University
  • Counseling Services or other specialists.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including primary care providers and athletic trainers, to create integrated treatment plans.
  • Educate students on mental health topics through one-on-one appointments and workshops, promoting awareness and reducing stigma.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and medical standards.
  • Participate in campus-wide wellness initiatives and provide training for staff on recognizing and addressing mental health concerns.

In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $99,450 to $124,300; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry.
  • Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification in Massachusetts.
  • DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
  • 3-5 years of experience in psychiatric mental health care, preferably with young adults or in a higher education setting.
  • Strong skills in crisis management, mental health assessment, and treatment planning.
