Job Description

We seek a highly motivated and technically qualified individual to join our NTIA NOFO 2 SRFA 1 Development Team. The Principal Research Engineer, Systems will oversee the system design, integration, and testing. This position will work closely with R&D managers and System, Hardware, and Software engineers. Duties will include the following: Responsibilities

• Understand the system of O-RAN RU and DAS (Distributed Antenna System), and engage in technical discussions with mobile operators
• Define product specification for 3GPP, O-RAN standard-based RU and DAS solutions
• Customer and market requirements analysis and function definition
• System issue analysis and issue root cause identification and solution derivation
• Technical collaboration and technical support with customers and partners
• Define product specifications based on PRD (Product Requirement Document)
• Define hardware, firmware, and software functionalities
• Address implementation issues in hardware and software development, revise or update specifications in collaboration with the PLM team as needed
• Conduct hardware and software integration testing, functional verification, and develop technical transfer procedures
• Set up and conduct E2E testing and ensure compliance with 3GPP conformance standards
• Perform product reliability testing (e.g., temperature cycle tests) and obtain required certifications such as FCC and UL
• Distribute engineering Bill of Materials
• Support producing product samples for the verification and IOT
• Product Approval document and Technical documentation handover

Qualified Candidates Must Possess:

• Understanding knowledge of O-RAN RU and DAS
• Strong understanding of hardware and software system architecture and development processes
• Proficiency in creating and interpreting functional and technical specifications
• In-depth knowledge and expertise in industry standards, including 3GPP, FCC, and UL
• Knowledge of testing tools and processes, including reliability testing and certification procedures
• Strong problem-solving skills to resolve Hardware and Software development issues
• Effective communication and documentation skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of related experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of related experience in 4G/5G Remote Radio and DAS product development and management role
• Experience in O-RAN/3GPP-based product development, including successful delivery of commercialized products
• Experience in Hardware and Software integration and testing methodologies
• Experience in E2E and conformance testing
