Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineering Technician to provide leadership to our Missile Products team in our Rocket Center, WV offices.
Role description & Responsibilities:
Provide manufacturing engineering support for metal and composite machining efforts. Responsibilities consist of, but not limited to, maintaining stable production processes and product quality, new process development, process optimization, continuous improvement, SPC data collection and analysis, materials selection, equipment/facilities selection and implementation of maintenance. Participate in tooling design, fact finding, failure investigations, procedure preparation/review, support of maintenance personnel, and general status monitoring of multiple tasks and programs. Responsibilities include tool preparation/selection, creating CNC code for machining and turning centers, machine setup and debug, work instruction preparation, creating process and drawings. Interface with all levels and departments of plant including machine operators, supervision, and maintenance personnel to complete assigned tasks.
Experience Requirements:
• Capable of writing and editing CNC programs for both turning and machining centers
• Capable of CNC machine setup and optimization of process
• Computer skills must include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience using CAD/CAM software, ACAD, MASTERCAM, Solid Works
• Experience with cutting tool selection, fixture design and metal and/ or composite material processing
• Working knowledge of GD&T as defined by ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance
• Willingness to work off shifts when required by build schedule
• Have an understanding and working knowledge of Lean manufacturing
