Provides professional law enforcement services to the Carilion Clinic. These services include carrying out the objectives of the Clinic, the preservation of peace and protection of life and property, the prevention of crime and the enforcement of laws.

 

• Investigates suspicious or criminal activity and investigates criminal cases as assigned to a logical conclusion.
• Assists and coordinates with outside law enforcement agencies while they are interacting with hospital services, visitors, patients or staff.
• Interrogates and interviews suspects, gathers evidence, conducts surveillance, apprehends violators, and testifies in court.
• Prepares and maintains detailed and comprehensive reports, records and files.
• Enforces laws, investigates crimes and processes crime scenes.
• Maintaining records and files; preparing reports; preparing testimony; testifying in Court.
• Writes and files all required reports in a timely manner.
• Conducts background investigations.

24 Hours on Average Per Week; Shift Mon-Fri 3 Days Per Week 8am-4:40pm

What We Require:

Education: High School or equivalent required, college degree preferred.

Experience: Certified law enforcement officer with at least 5 years of criminal investigations experience.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: (1) Has met Virginia minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and is currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, or; is eligible to attend and successfully complete such training within one year of being hired. (2) Valid Virginia driver’s license required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion’s Driver Regulations. Due to Virginia’s state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Meets Virginia’s minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
