About us:
The Service Employees International Union Local 925 (SEIU 925) is 19,000 working people united to improve our jobs and our communities. We are childcare providers; custodians, bus drivers, and paraeducators in the public schools; higher education workers; adjunct professors; public defenders, county employees; and more.

Our union believes we can’t have economic justice without racial justice.  Applicants should have a passion for justice-based organizing and commitment to the power of organized labor.

The Member Resource Center (MRC) Organizer position is a non-field staff position responsible for a combination of duties and responsibilities that include:

  • Servicing of bargaining units, including grievance processing, contract administration and working with state agencies.

  • Ensure accurate and timely case-related data/document management using the employer’s data/document management system.
  • Communicating with employers regarding grievances and contract enforcement.
  • Communicating with the internal organizing teams and directors about organizing issues raised by member communications to the MRC.
  • May assist and/or lead in collective bargaining
  • May handle mediations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices
  • May participate in public policy activity such as legislative and political work.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Desired qualifications:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and with ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a culturally diverse environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines

Preferred qualifications:

  • Community organizing or union organizing experience
  • Legal experience
  • Research experience
  • Journalism experience
  • Spanish language proficiency

This position will require evening and weekend work.  SEIU 925 currently follows strict COVID-19 protocols, but applicants should be aware that this position includes regional and national travel and time away from home outside of pandemic times.  The main SEIU 925 office is in Seattle, but our child care members are statewide.  A driver’s license, a car and proof of insurance, proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and a passion for organized labor power are required.
