This is a position for an Information Technology Specialist II, Retired Annuitant. Only those eligible as Retired Annuitants are qualified to apply.

The reporting location for this position is Energy Safety Office Headquarters located at 715 P Street, 15th floor Sacramento, CA 95814. This position will work under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Manager I.

This position is remote-centered and is eligible for telework up to 5 days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Effective March 3, 2025 this position will transition to a hybrid workplace requiring a minimum of two days in-office presence per week.

The newly created Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS) is looking for subject matter expertise to support the Information Technology Section. The Information Technology Specialist II, Retired Annuitant (ITS II) is needed to provide expertise in all aspects of information technology (IT) but specifically with IT security practices. The position will aid in supporting the further development of the OEIS systems which support program applications. An experienced and knowledgeable ITS II will give IT recommendations and provide IT services which will ensure OEIS moves forward technologically in a manner that fully embraces Microsoft 365 and supports IT security and provides IT resources necessary for continued operational efficiency.

The ITS II will report directly to the Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Manager I (IT Manager I). The ITS II will support IT security functions during project management and application development operations as well as ongoing systems maintenance, within OEIS. The position performs a critical IT security role within OEIS related to application design and maintenance, project management, vendor management and other tasks related to the Department’s Microsoft 365 cloud-based Azure application environment.
