The Bensenville Fire Protection District #2 is currently hiring for the fulltime sworn Firefighter/Paramedic position. We currently have two immediate openings. Candidates are required to complete the NTN FireTeam exam, PSSA, and PHQ to be considered for this position.

Department Overview: The Bensenville Fire Protection District #2 is a combination department that includes one Fire Chief, one Executive Assistant, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Lieutenants, 18 firefighter/paramedics, and approximately 10 supplemental paramedics working in both the permanent part-time and fill-in roll. All personnel are certified as firefighters, paramedics, EMT's, and/or by the State of Illinois, and licensed by IDPH/Good Samaritan Hospital System.
Our organization runs an average of 3,600 calls for service annually, providing a full range of services including; fire suppression, advanced life support EMS, Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, and Water Rescue. We respond from two fire stations where we staff a Battalion car, an Engine, A Ladder Truck, and two Ambulances daily.
Area Information: Bensenville Fire District covers 6.4 square miles with a residential population of 18,600 and a heavy commercial area where the population increases to 70,000 during the day. Our Eastern boarder is O'hare International Airport and the Canadian Pacific Rail yard, the Northern boarder has the 390 Interstate, where the center of town and the Western and Southern boarder have four major traveled streets including; Route 83, Irving Park Road, Grand Avenue, and York Road.
Job Requirements
Age: Must be 21 years of age at time of application. Must be under 35 years of age at time of testing and at such time as the eligibility register is posted, unless they have been certified and employed as a full-time firefighter for another Fire Protection District or Municipal Fire Department in the State of Illinois, or are otherwise exempt by the State Statue 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
Required Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
High School Grad/GED: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
Valid Illinois Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire.
Ability to Read/Speak/Understand English: Yes.
Vision: Must pass the pre-employment physical.
Necessary Certifications: All candidates must be certified as an EMT-Paramedic by the State of Illinois at time of application.
Additional Certifications: All candidates, at the time of hire must provide current valid certification that he/she has successfully passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statue 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
Hiring Process:
Successful passing score of written examination
Successful completion of an interview with the Board of Fire Commissioners
Complete and pass a background check/investigation
Complete and pass a psychological examination
Complete and pass a physical exam/drug test
Complete an Oral Interview with the Fire Commissioners
