Position Overview: As an Escrow Officer, your third-party review protects both the buyer and seller. To fulfill your responsibilities, you must possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of search and closing sale procedures. You must examine the history of a property and make a recommendation as to whether title insurance is necessary to protect the buyer after the purchase. Depending on where you live, your duties may also include notary licensing.
Key Responsibilities - Reach out to buyers and sellers when a title order is received, making follow-up calls to buyers, sellers, and their agents as necessary
- Gathering pertinent file information
- Gather additional information and keep all parties updated through our system
- Ordering titles, payoffs, estoppels, and other searches and documentation
- Preparing Settlement Statements and Closing Disclosures
- Understand the title process to determine what steps need to be taken to transfer the title of property pursuant to the conditions called for in the real estate contract and lender instructions

- Collaborate to resolve title issues such as legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting, all tax liens, abstracts of judgments, bankruptcies, boundary disputes, encroachments, list pendants, etc.
- Prepare all closing documents necessary to ensure title insurance is issued at closing
- Secure all documents (corrective and others) that may be required for the issuance of title insurance.
- Prior to disbursement, confirm all funds are collected, all appropriate documents are checked for accuracy, signatures are collected, and acknowledgements and legal descriptions are correct.
- Prior to recording, verify all legal documents for correct acknowledgments, legal, and liens.
Requirements: - Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, follow tight deadlines, and prioritize work.
- Minimum of 5 years licensure and experience in title/escrow transactions.
- Intermediate experience using technology such as; G-Suite, Microsoft Office.
- Open to feedback and a great listener.
- Detail-oriented, multi-tasker, highly motivated, and a strong team player.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent GED.
- Notary (Preferred).
- Experience using closing software such as Qualia is a big plus.
- Substantive knowledge of the procedures, terminology, and documents relating to real estate transactions.
This position is a remote or hybrid work opportunity for their Chicago office. Only candidates residing in Illinois will be considered.
