Job Description

Our client, a leading civil engineering and design firm, is seeking a Civil Engineering Group Manager to lead their Maryland Office. This key leadership role involves collaborating with the Regional Design Director to pursue and manage projects independently, from kick-off to construction. The role includes business development, client relationship management, team assembly, and proposal preparation.

The successful candidate will manage a team of experienced engineers, with support from company practice leaders to ensure quality control and foster professional growth. You will play an active role in hiring, building a productive team, and creating a supportive, mentorship-focused environment.

About the Client

Must have's:

  • Possess a Professional Engineering license in Maryland (licenses in other Mid-Atlantic states are a plus) and hold a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering.

  • Have at least 10 years of experience in developing construction documents, plans, specifications, and estimates, with at least 5 years managing 5+ complex projects through completion.

  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge base in civil engineering, including roadway/highway grading, drainage design, geometric design, 3D modeling, accessible public spaces, and obtaining transportation/local agency permits for bidding.

  • Show a desire to manage, mentor, and inspire staff, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating utility, right-of-way, and other project impacts.

  • Have experience managing engineering projects in Maryland, preparing proposals and scope/fees, and participating in business development activities such as networking at industry events.

  • Be proficient in Computer Automated Design (CADD) and have general knowledge of project performance metrics and strategies for monitoring them.
