Job Classification: Career Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic
The West Chester Township Fire Department is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Career Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam as well as the Firefighter Mile exam through National Testing Network to be considered further in the hiring process. To be considered for this round of hiring, all testing must be completed by April 30, 2025.
The department requires the candidate Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA) Part 1 and the Typing Test. You can access this through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PSSA and Typing Test as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
Candidates must also complete a department application, found online.
To be considered for this round of hiring, applications must be completed by April 30, 2025.
Salary Information: Step 1 - $69,704.56. Applicants with Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic service with a Village, City, County, Township, or other Public Agency, may start as high as Step 3 ($77,582.83 - Wage to be adjusted). The applicant's career history will be utilized in determining their entry level.

Department Overview: West Chester Township Fire & EMS Department is a progressive suburban combination department with over 110 members providing service to a community of 65,000 residents and more than 3.600 businesses. WCTFD has 5 fully-staffed stations covering 35 square miles responding to over 9,000 Fire and EMS calls annually. IAFF Local #3518 represents our 78 full-time employees. Necessary Certifications :
· State of Ohio Firefighter - Level II
· State of Ohio EMT or Paramedic (EMT applicants must complete Paramedic certification within 3 years of Enrollment into a Paramedic Program - Department pays for Paramedic Training)
Additional Requirements :
· State of Ohio Life Safety Inspector (Must be obtained after hire)
· Hazardous Materials Technician (Must be obtained after hire)
Hiring Process :
· Resume Submission to West Chester Township Human Resources - Applicants eligible for Military Service Credit (5 Exam Points) must submit a DD214 with their Employment Application. Part-time applicants currently employed by the WCTFD will receive 1 Exam Point per year of Service up to a maximum of 5 points.
· NTN Written Exam and Firefighter Mile physical testing (must be completed by April 30, 2025)
· Panel Interview (Selected Applicants)
