How You'll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own Our Business Analysis Summer Internship is designed to make a direct impact on a broad variety of projects and help to co-create and deliver successful solutions to GDIT's clients. As a Business Analyst Intern, you'll play a key part in driving company success by solving complex problems that enable insights into operational performance.
A Day in the Life - Collaborate with management to lead and execute, (under the supervision and guidance of NIH Business Area (BA) leadership), from start to finish, assigned project(s) supporting the strategy and growth of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Business Area. Projects will have a start and end date and will culminate in a final product (such as a document, report, power point, spreadsheet, etc., but is TBD based on the project) and a presentation near the end of the internship. Projects will have frequent check-ins to ensure the 'right track' and to support the learning and development of the individual carrying out the project. The purpose of the project approach is to ensure a collaborative and hands on intern experience that delivers real and lasting value to the intern as well as the GDIT NIH Business Area.
- Project(s) will be selected based on intern's strength, interests, and the needs of the NIH Business Area.
- The following list includes examples of types of projects but is not a prescriptive list of exact projects the intern will lead and execute. The selection of project(s) will be collaborative and will be selected once the intern is on board and has received a base understanding of the NIH Business Area and has met the NIH leadership team. Example projects: development of a capability statement for the NIH Business Area, white paper development, analysis of pipeline and recommendations, competitor analysis, market analysis
- Customer Relationship Management system and Growth Reporting support:
- Review opportunities to ensure accurate status in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
- Add and/or update opportunities in the CRM tool
- Run and or review reports out of the CRM to manage the health of the NIH Business Area (BA) pipeline of opportunities
- Ongoing Research and Analysis activities and support:
- Conduct contract vehicle research Perform information gathering to inform decision-making of the NIH BA leadership team
- Conduct analysis for scientific, technical, professional, and business trends within industry and the NIH market
- Draft reports, procedures, presentations and other documentation as needed
- Ongoing support to management: (Activities will be selected based on management team needs and intern projects will be considered to ensure mapping of activities to learning happening on projects.)
- Draft meeting agendas and meeting minutes
- Upload documentation to, and refine SharePoint sites to ensure ready access to needed information Create SharePoint sites as needed
- Support the tracking of non-disclosure agreements and teaming agreements to ensure timely completion
- Other duties as assigned to support Program Managers and account leadership on growth activities
- Support the process of job requisition creation for the NIH BA
- Use modeling and analytics to understand how business decisions impact our bottom line.
- Learn how to leverage new tools and technologies.
- Collect and analyze information by reviewing databases, interpreting reports, and communicating evaluations with key team members.
- Produce reporting on an as needed basis (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Communicate complex data through comprehensive methods.
- Calculate and evaluate business metrics to meet ongoing organizational or client informational needs.
- Assist in the research and assessment of business goals, objectives and needs to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
- Assist in planning and designing business processes.
- Formulate recommendations to improve and support business activities.

The Must-Haves - Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in a United States-based college or university.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams).

- Broad knowledge of project management and data analytics.
- Analytical and quantitative skills: working with and synthesizing big data into actionable insights.
- Comfortable using data software to conduct analyses and synthesize findings.
The likely hourly rate for this position is between $25.13 - $29.90. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
