Job Description:

As an Authorization Specialist, you will handle prior authorizations for patients transitioning to new insurance benefits. This role involves patient education, insurance coordination, and cost calculations to ensure patients are fully informed and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process prior authorizations for current and new treatments under updated insurance plans.
• Educate patients about changes in their insurance benefits and financial responsibilities.
• Calculate treatment costs and explain payment structures.
• Collaborate with all insurance carriers (excluding United Healthcare) to verify coverage and resolve issues.
• Provide patient support with sensitivity and clarity regarding cancer treatments and insurance matters.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years in prior authorization; oncology experience is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with patients and discuss treatments and payments.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency with insurance carriers, both commercial and government.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort discussing sensitive healthcare topics.
  • Basic math skills for calculating costs.

Additional Details:

• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible for childcare or other personal needs).
• Assignment Type: Contract through March, with potential for a permanent position based on performance.
• Start Date: ASAP.
• Software: Onco360.
• Environment: Professional business office with free onsite parking.
• Compliance Requirements: Background check and drug screen required.
