Overview:
Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks an Assistant   Designer - Accessories to join the Accessories Design team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. The role will work closely with the Director of Design and Leathergoods team on the design and development process for Marc Jacobs Leathergoods.  Responsibilities include sketching (hand or computer), creating design packages, prototype development and corrections, researching and building inspirational boards, and knowledge of market trends and techniques. 

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assists in the design process of leather goods under the supervision of the Director of Design and with the guidance of the design team. 

• Research trends and apply to product. 

• Efficiently develop color ups of sketches for design presentations. 

• Assist in prototype mock-ups to visualize end product. 

• Organize and prepare samples for review. 

• Note taking for the team. 

• Responsible for organizing and maintaining archive samples. 

• Operates within the given design calendar. 

• Ability to work closely with other design team members. 

• Understands the Marc Jacobs Customer and brand positioning. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in art or Fashion 

• 0 – 2 years design experience. 

• Must be organized. 

• Strong sketching ability. 

• Strong sense of color, fashion, product & trend. 

• Strong written & verbal communication skills. 

• Excellent taste level & brand awareness. 

SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER: 
The compensation for this position ranges from $26.75 - $29.25 (hourly). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
