Summary Little Branches Learning Center, located in Woodstock, VT, is a faith-based early education center. We currently serve children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, in addition to children in our after-school program, and summer program, up to second grade. Our commitment to excellence in early childhood education is rooted in Christian Values, ensuring that little ones not only receive care, but also experience a nurturing atmosphere that fosters holistic development. Little Branches Learning Center is a specialized early education center, welcoming children of all abilities to an inclusive environment. We also have a Family Support Program that strives to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to each family.
We are looking for a highly motivated part-time After School Teacher Assistant to join our teaching community. As a Teacher Assistant, your daily interactions with the children will help to create a caring and safe environment and assist in activities to engage them in learning. You will use your ability to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. You will demonstrate love, kindness and patience in all interactions with children.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 1pm to 5pm
- Willing to discuss full time position for the right candidate
Duties - Variety of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, etc.
- Assist teachers in implementing a high-quality, faith-informed educational program
- Develop positive relationships with families, children, and staff
- Implement developmentally appropriate activities based on approved curriculum
- Supervise actitives to ensure safety of the children
- Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of the classrooms
- Attend schedule staff meetings and in-service workshops
- Complete at least 15 hours of approved professional development annually
Requirements - Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED; at least one of the following
- Career Ladder Level 1 certificate
- CDA certificate and 12 months experience with children under grade 3
- A State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate and at least 12 months experience
- Completion of the Fundamentals for Early Education Professionals' course or Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and 12 months experience
- At least 3 successfully completed college credits in courses of child or human development
- Clear background check and fingerprinting through the Child Development Division
- Complete Vermont Orientation training online prior to being left alone with children
- Complete Vermont Mandated Reporter training for child abuse and neglect
- Obtain certification in pediatric first aid and infant/child CPR within 6 months of date of hire
- Complete Basic Specialized Care and Medication Administration trainings
- Be able to lift 35 pounds or more
- Be able to move equipment and furniture for classroom activities and routine cleaning
