Job Summary:

Adult Education (AE) Facilitators scaffold students to become independent learners and to transition from tutorial support as they enter CCRI pathways. The CCRI Fast Track to Manufacturing Adult Education facilitator provides foundational math and digital literacy skill instruction in programs on the Liston (Providence) campus and inside corrections units (Cranston).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Integrated Education and Training ( IET ) Facilitator for Fast Track to Manufacturing (18 hours per week):

  • Provides foundational math and digital literacy skill instruction on Liston campus (Providence) and at the Department of Corrections Women's Unit
  • Schedule: Weekdays, Monday – Thursday, 3 hours of instruction per day (12 hours total). 6 additional hours of prep / meeting time per week


Direct Instruction (12 hours per week):

  • Facilitate classes learning and practicing math and literacy skills that integrate real world applications including: Fast Track manufacturing math & digital literacy skill development
  • Use best-practice approaches to facilitation including: Teaching the Skills that Matter, CALM math, & Northstar curricula ( CCRI will provide training)
  • Determine students' level of proficiency and adjust activities accordingly to meet the needs of English Language Learner, Adult Basic Education and Adult Secondary Education students
  • Explicitly define, model and support skills and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning, and facilitate self-directed learning enabling students to connect learning to their lives


Class Preparation/Program Support (6 hours per week):

  • Collaborate with CCRI Adult Education team and Department of Corrections staff to deliver credit and non-credit programs integrating workforce training foundational academics, & digital literacy skills
  • Conduct small group CASAS pre- and post- testing (paper and digital)
  • Collaborate with Adult Education and Corrections teams to evaluate and generate educational options for students
  • Support students to articulate education and training goals using current and relevant vocational information
  • Participate in adult education and corrections related professional development & training


Technology:

  • Use Google and other digital platforms to work with students and with Bridge team
  • Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information resources to support research and learning


Other Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college
  • Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Comfort solving problems using high school geometry, trigonometry
  • Experience motivating students in the learning process and understanding of differentiation and universal design
  • Excellent interpersonal communications
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Google G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office

Competencies:

  • Three years of experience working with adult students or adults with learning difficulties
  • Experience with adult education curriculum for Northstar, Teaching the Skills that Matter, CASAS Competencies

Campus Location: Primarily located at the Providence Campus

Full-time/Part-time: Part-Time

Salary Range: $37.13 per hour
